A note from Virgin Voyages CEO, Tom McAlpin
As this year comes to an end, we’re ready to start looking toward 2021. The world is not out of the woods just yet, but there are so many reasons to be optimistic. With that, I wanted to share an update with you about our plans.
Based on the best information we have, we are working hard to start sailing from PortMiami with Scarlet Lady on May 9th, 2021, and Valiant Lady on November 14th, 2021. These changes are about being realistic about where things will likely stand with operating requirements, ongoing travel restrictions, shipyard construction delays for Valiant, and most importantly trying to reduce the impact of booking and rebooking for you and your Sailors. We know it’s frustrating.
We have been fortunate to weather the storm with incredible support from you, our future Sailors, and our shareholders like the Virgin Group and Bain Capital. They remain so excited and committed to the cruise industry and are passionate about building this brand with you.
Our partnership with you remains incredibly important and we’re committed to being ‘Brilliant To Do Business With’. We continue to offer brilliant FVC options for your Sailors impacted by this change, and have your back with protected commissions on voyage fares paid. If your Sailors choose to take advantage of our generous FVCs, we'll pay a commission again on the value of voyage fare paid. That’s how we Set Sail the Virgin Way.
Yes, our plans to launch may have been postponed, but our plans for creating the world’s most irresistible travel brand have never dampened. We’re dedicated to crafting an experience at sea unlike anything ever imagined. We turned our downtime into your future better time. After all, we’re not just building a ship — we’re revolutionizing a way to explore the world.
When we set sail soon, we want to do it with you triumphantly and joyfully, but until then there are many exciting things happening for Virgin Voyages. Ship 3 is taking shape and her sensational itineraries will be announced soon, we’ve officially cut steel on Ship 4, we’ve broken ground and started construction of our Terminal V at PortMiami, and we’ve finished plans to unveil our fleet mother and Guardian. What were once our biggest dreams are blossoming into an extraordinary reality.
We’re so excited to set sail with you and your Sailors in 2021, and can’t wait to show our Lady Ships off. But until then, we’ll let Captain Richard Branson take things from here…
